Lux Magi Consultant Skill Set: Architect


Below is the skill set you would expect from a typical Lux Magi architect:

General
At least 10 years end to end experience of architecting and either
  • analysing, specifying and testing; or
  • designing, building, maintaining and supporting
a front, middle or back off system with a specific application focus, for example:
  • Accounting;
  • Trade Allocation;
  • Pricing;
  • Reconciliation;
  • Research;
  • Risk Management;
  • Trading;
  • Settlement;
  • Transaction Management; or a comparable area.

Business
  • 10 or more years of business experience working within investment banks (Derivatives, Debt Instruments, Equities etc)
  • 8 or more years managing business requirements (e.g. capture, analysis, documentation or equivalent)
  • 5 years experience of capital market instruments
  • 3 years or more experience of project management and/or team leading
  • 1 year or more experience of a business messaging standard (e.g. FpML, IXML, MDDL, etc)

Technology
  • 10 years' practical development experience in C++ including third party libraries, XP and Agile methodologies and version control systems (CVS, SVN, Perforce, Clearcase, etc);
  • 10 years' experience of UNIX system development with various versions of Solaris, AIX and Linux;
  • 8 years' experience of object oriented analysis, design and pattern-based implementation techniques (with Rational UML and RUP toolset);
  • 6 years' experience of Relational Databases (Sybase/Transact-SQL or Oracle PL/SQL);
  • 1 year’s practical development experience of business rules based systems (e.g. Fair Isaac Blaze Advisor, IBM ILOG JRules, Drools and Jess) or a or business process management tool (e.g. BizTalk).

In addition, our specialised consultants have the following skills in (addition to these above):

Architect with Business Specialisation


  • 15 or more years of business experience working within investment banks (Derivatives, Debt Instruments, Equities etc)
  • 10 years or more practical experience of (interest rate) derivative products
  • 5 years or more practical experience of cash equities
  • 3 years or more practical experience of exchange traded products

Architect with Technical Specialisation


  • 7 years' practical development experience in Java (up to JDK 1.6, including JDBC, JSP, Swing and other key APIs);
  • 7 years' practical development experience of business rule or business process based systems.
  • 6 years' practical experience with XML, XPath, XSLT, XML-Schema, XSD, etc;
  • 6 years' mentoring/development experience in service/component based architecture, of which at least 3 years is with J2EE;
  • Significant (i.e. one year or more) practical experience of: C# and the .NET environment; Ab Initio (ETL) and RUP.

Architect with Business Rule Specialisation

This is a technical specialist (see above) with the following additional skills:
  • 6 years' practical development experience of business rules based systems (see above for examples)
